To support efficient fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS), Starboard brings in fishing registration data from Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs). This data is available for corresponding vessels by matching vessel details in RFMO fishing registers with vessel details in the Starboard database.
Current fishing registration details from RFMOs are listed in Starboard which can be found in the vessel details panel and in the vessel report when Fishing is the selected analysis type. Authorisation details from RFMO registers are also available within Starboard’s advanced filtering.
If a vessel is in a register and has been matched with a corresponding vessel in Starboard this will be shown as a clickable green tag. There will be instances where a vessel is in a register but was unable to be matched with a corresponding vessel in Starboard. If a vessel is not in Starboard, but is on a register, it will not be shown in Starboard.
Where available, vessel subtypes from the register, for example “Fishing - Tuna longliner” or “Cargo - Fish carrier", are updated for vessels. Vessel subtypes are also available for filtering under ‘Vessel type’. See How it works: Vessel subtypes for more information.

Fishing registration data is imported and updated regularly. The last updated date can be found at the bottom of the registration details for each registered vessel in the app.
